RESURRECTION LIFE – What does it mean?
by Bruce Vyverberg
Good Friday
For us to better understand the word resurrection, we must first acknowledge the word death.  Death seems like such a morbid subject.  It is a subject that we prefer to keep neatly swept under a rug; avoiding any discussion of.  Perhaps, we think if we don’t discuss it, then the fearful thought of it might somehow disappear.  Whatever the reason, the fact remains; death is eminent for every person ever born in this world.  It is man’s lot in life to die once.  Jesus died a gruesome death on the cross.  His final Words were… “It is finished”.  What do you suppose He meant by those Words  “It is finished”?  He was speaking of the debt for mankind’s sins.  Jesus was chosen by God the Father before the beginning of time to be the human sacrifice to take away the sins of the world.  The price was the blood of a sinless man.   Because Jesus suffered and died on the cross, we can now be forgiven of every sin we have ever committed or will commit.  That’s the good news of GOOD FRIDAY!

Easter Sunday
The even brighter side is Easter Sunday.  It is the day that we Christians celebrate what is called “The Resurrection of Life”.  In religious terms, the word RESURRECTION is used to describe what happened to Jesus after His death.  His body was buried in a tomb for 3 days before God powerfully raised Jesus up from the dead.  God gave Jesus His life back again and restored to Him His rightful position as Son of God who now lives in heaven.  It is our faith in the resurrected Son of God that will bring us up from the grave as well; granting us life again to be lived with Him in heaven!  It is RESURRECTION LIFE!

No Fear
As Christians, we are not to fear this thing we call death.  Death no longer has power over those of us who have faith in the saving grace of God.  Although we know that we die physically, we need to also understand that when our bodies are buried, that it is only our physical bodies that we leave behind for natural decay.  Our real person, (soul and spirit) gets air lifted by an escort of angels to our heavenly home where we will be given new bodies.  It is there that we will be forever living in the light and full knowledge of God.  There is no darkness there at all.   We will be eternally free from the pains of suffering that living in this world can cause.  No more tears and no more sorrows.  “We know these things are true by believing, not by seeing.  And we are not afraid, but are quite content to die, for then we will be at home with the Lord” (II Corinthians 5:7-8).

The Way for You!
Yes, you too can experience “Resurrection Life”.  You can experience the kind of peace and joy that only the Son of God can give you.  You can have all of your sins forgiven and when you leave this life behind, you can have an assurance that heaven will be your new home.  First, you must pray from your heart.  Ask Jesus the Son of God to come into your life.  Ask Him to forgive you of your sins.  Now, thank Him, trust and follow Him as your Savior.  Welcome to the family of God!
